Constructing 3D Archimedean Solids
Most people have heard about the Platonic solids, but did you know that there are 13 solids that were extensively discussed and analyzed by Archimedes. Although his work on these solids was lost at one time, during the classical revival period, they were rediscovered. An Archimedean solid is a highly symmetric, semi-regular convex polyhedron composed of two or more types of regular polygons meeting in identical vertices. This set of blackline masters contains all 13 of these solids: truncated tetrahedron cuboctahedron truncated cube truncated octahedron rhombicuboctahedron truncated cuboctahedron snub cube icosidodecahedron truncated dodecahedron truncated icosahedron rhombicosidodecahedron truncated icosidodecahedron snub dodecahedron All black line masters come in two formats. The black and white models allow your students to colour them. The coloured model of each solid is pre-coloured by us, and is ready to cut out and glue together. The truncated models are particularly challenging and provide hours of learning experiences, with plenty of room for mathematical discussions. 58 pages
