Rigamajig is a large-scale building kit used for hands-on free play and playful STEAM learning. It's a collection of wooden planks, wheels, pulleys, nuts, bolts,and rope that allows children to follow their curiosity through play. Engaging the inquisitive mind and creative spirit, Rigamajig empowers children to think three dimensionally, building things larger than themselves. Children often say "this isn't a toy, this is real!" as they familiarize themselves with the scale and weight of working with wood. All the while they are cooperating and communicating to problem solve, pretend and play.

Rigamajig Junior Kit is perfect for smaller classroom spaces and it's easy to tidy up and store. 1/2" thick Baltic birch planks range from 6" - 22", making it large enough to make things to play inside of, but small and light enough to play in a lap or table top.

How To Care for Your Rigamajig
With a little attention, your Rigamajig will last generations. This can be a fun activity to do with children, and they'll learn about wood as well as caring for their tools and toys. To refinish the wooden elements, lightly sand the surface and refinish using a trusted brand of child safe varnish. Follow the finish manufacturer’s instructions for best results. We recommend periodic inspections to insure planks remain smooth enough for tender hands. If the planks suffer dings and dents, simply sand lightly with 300 grit sandpaper to prevent splintering. Wingbolts and Nuts are made of an extremely durable recycled nylon. They can be washed with soap and water or in a washing machine.

Safety
Children should be supervised at all times while playing with or around the Rigamajig products. Rigamajig contraptions should never be climbed on, stood upon, or ridden. We believe that large solid wood parts are an empowering way for children to explore constructive and imaginative play. Encourage children to be aware of their surroundings and play cooperatively. Children and their adult helpers should be cautious during the “dis-assembly” of Rigamajig contraptions. Have children work together when taking things apart, and be aware of cause and effect when removing and loosening parts. Hint: When taking apart a contraption, start at the top!
